When creating the original product, I had many aspects to take into consideration, including what technologies I would use, how I would use them, who my target audience were to be, why, layout of the magazine, house style etc. This required a lot of music magazine industry research. I based my front cover on a fashion magazine, rather than a music magazine. This is because the layout of the fashion magazine I found was very elegant, and after research, I found that magazine front covers rarely differed in layout, in sense of genre. also when researching I found that most of the British music magazines were of a similar 'rock' genre of music, so I decided to challenge this and bring out a new magazine genre of 'pop' or 'smash hits' sort of genre. this was hard, in the sense that I could not really base my front cover on any current music magazines because they were mostly of a rock genre, and included 'harsh' layouts; bold colours, rugged text styles, and lack of elegance.
As my magazine is targeted for women, elegance is important. So I based my front cover on an elegant magazine.
