Other Audiences

The Music Magazine Target Audiences Do Not Vary Too Much:

* VIBE targets both male and female 18 - 30 year olds but is an American magazine

* NME targets mostly male aged 18 - 30

* Kerrang targets mostly male 15 - 44 year olds

* Mojo targets only males according to Bauer Media

* Hit Parader targets mostly male 18 - 24 year olds

So there is a space in the UK market for a music magazine with a predominantly female target audience between the ages of 14 and 24. This may seem like a niche market, but approximately 41% of the population are female, and out of this 41%, approximately 69% of the females fit this target audience. Therefore I would consider it to be quite a mass audience. Most magazines have a specific target audience, often a particular age and gender group attached to a hobby, interest or lifestyle choice. The target audience was a very important factor for when planning my magazine. This is because almost every aspect of the magazine had to correlate with the target audience.
