In order to decide my house style, I asked 15 people to choose the four most appropriate colours for the genre of my magazine. I asked 5 people who read music magazines, 5 people who are between my target market of 14 – 24, and five people at random. The colours black and white have to be two of their choices, because the front cover background will be white, and the text of the interview will be black. I made sure they chose colours which actually match, not just their favourite colours. After black and white the most popular colour was silver, so I have to use silver. Next in line was a draw between fuchsia and pink. Both colours are quite warm pink colours, so as long as I use a warm pink colour similar to these two, it will be fine.The two least popular colours were green and blue, maybe because they are not suitable colours for a professional, yet elegant music magazine.
